Tryouts and Evaluations

Tryouts and evaluations at Crush F.C. help our coaches in Burlington, Ontario, place each player born 2015 to 2018 on the team that suits their development. Your child joins a relaxed session with players of the same birth year, and we contact your family soon after. Read how it works, what to bring and how to register your interest.

Placement

How does placement work?

Coaches place players by birth year first, then by ability and development needs. Each player joins a training session where coaches watch how they move, pass and work with teammates. We then contact your family with a team and program recommendation.

Questions

Questions about tryouts and evaluations

Does my child need soccer experience to try out?

No experience is needed to attend an evaluation at Crush F.C. Coaches welcome players born 2015 to 2018 at every level and place each child where they can learn and enjoy the game. Players born 2018 who are new to team soccer often start in the Entry Program 7v7, with 1 training session a week plus games.

Where do evaluations take place?

Crush F.C. teams train in Burlington and Stoney Creek, Ontario, and evaluations take place at our training centres. When you register your interest, we email you the location, date and start time for your child's age group. If you have any questions about getting there, contact us and we will gladly help.

When will we hear about placement?

The club contacts every family after the evaluation with a team and program recommendation for their child. We reply to every message within 2 business days. Placement can change during the season as players grow, and coaches are always happy to talk with families about their child's development.

How can I help my child feel confident on the day?

Remind your child to have fun, try their best and help their teammates. Coaches value effort, listening and attitude as much as skill. Arrive early so there is no rush, pack water and the right shoes the night before, and keep the drive home positive whatever happens on the field.

Can my child join Crush if they play for another club?

Yes. Players registered with another club can join our Super League programs through dual registration. They train and play with Crush while keeping their other team. Super League programs run for players born 2015, 2016 and 2017, with 2 training sessions a week plus Super League games.
