What should my child pack for training?
Pack the essentials the night before so the drop off is calm, and label everything with your child's name.
- Indoor or turf shoes that suit the facility surface
- Shin guards and soccer socks that cover them
- A full water bottle with your child's name on it
- Training top or team kit, and a warm layer for the trip home
- A hair tie for long hair
- Any medication your child may need, such as an inhaler or epinephrine auto injector
- A small healthy snack for after the session
Which shoes work best indoors?
Turf shoes are the safest choice for most indoor domes. They have many short rubber studs that grip artificial turf well. Flat indoor court shoes suit a gym or hard floor. Many domes do not allow metal studs, and long moulded studs can catch in turf, so keep those for grass fields.
If you are unsure, bring both turf shoes and running shoes for the first session, and the coach can help you choose.
Why do shin guards and water matter so much indoors?
Shin guards are required in every game and protect against knocks in busy small sided play. Indoor domes are often warm and dry, so players sweat more than they expect. A full water bottle at every session helps them stay sharp and avoid headaches.
Can my child wear jewellery?
No jewellery is allowed during play, including earrings, bracelets and watches, because it can injure your child or another player. If new piercings cannot come out, check with the coach before the session.
How early should we arrive?
Arrive about 10 minutes before the session so your child can change shoes, fill a water bottle and join the warm up on time. Check Field Status before you leave home for any same day changes.
