How to Choose a Youth Soccer Program in Burlington

Choosing a youth soccer program in Burlington, Ontario, comes down to five questions: how often your child wants to train, who coaches them, how the club keeps children safe, what the season costs, and how the club communicates. This Crush F.C. guide walks through each question so you can compare programs with confidence.

How many training sessions a week does my child need?

Most children do well with 1 to 3 training sessions a week, depending on their age, experience and love of the game. One session suits a child who is new to soccer or balancing other activities. Three sessions suit a child who wants to develop quickly and enjoys a busy schedule.

A useful rule of thumb from youth sports medicine is that children should have at least 1 or 2 rest days a week, and should spend no more hours a week in organized sport than their age in years. Leave room for school, friends and free play.

At Crush F.C., every program includes 18 guaranteed games, and families choose 1, 2 or 3 training sessions a week. You can compare them side by side on the programs page.

What should I ask about the coaches?

Ask who will coach your child, how coaches are screened, and how they share progress with families. A good club explains its screening and gives you a clear way to raise questions.

At Crush F.C., our policy requires every coach to hold a police or vulnerable sector check, Respect in Sport training and first aid. Coach profiles show a badge for each check only once it is verified. Meet them on the coaches page.

How do I know a club keeps children safe?

A safe club writes its standards down where you can read them before you register. Look for a named safeguarding lead, screened and trained coaches, the Rule of Two, a concussion procedure that follows Rowan's Law, and a photo consent that you control.

Crush F.C. sets out each of these on its safeguarding page, and our guide to screening and the Rule of Two explains them in plain words.

What does a season really cost?

Ask for the full season fee, the deposit, the instalment dates, what is included and what is extra, such as the uniform. A written payment plan makes the season easy to budget.

Crush F.C. season fees for Winter 2026/27 range from $1,300 to $2,850, with a deposit at signing and instalments on the 15th of the month. The uniform is bought separately, and the jersey is $48. Every price is on our fees page.

How will the club keep me informed?

Good communication saves busy families time. Ask where you will find the schedule, how closures are shared, and who answers your questions.

At Crush F.C., every family has a private portal with the schedule, payments and messages, and you can subscribe to your team's calendar. We reply to every message within 2 business days.

Can my child try a session before we commit?

Many families like to see a session before they sign up, and it is always worth asking. At Crush F.C., new players usually join an evaluation session so coaches can get to know them, and we then recommend a team and program. Register interest to get started.
