How are coaches and volunteers screened?
Our policy requires a police or vulnerable sector check, Respect in Sport training, first aid, and agreement to the Code of Conduct, renewed before they expire. Coach profiles show a badge only when a check is verified and current.
What is a vulnerable sector check?
A vulnerable sector check is a police check for people who work or volunteer with children or other vulnerable people. It is requested through the local police service where the person lives and looks for relevant criminal records, including pardoned sexual offences.
What is Respect in Sport?
Respect in Sport is an online training program for coaches and other adults in youth sport. It teaches them to recognize, prevent and respond to bullying, abuse, harassment and discrimination, so every player feels safe and respected.
What is the Rule of Two?
The Rule of Two means two screened adults are present or within sight whenever coaches are with players, so a child is never alone with one adult out of view. It protects players and coaches alike.
Coaches also communicate with players through group channels that include parents, so families always know what is being shared.
Who is the safeguarding lead?
The club has a named safeguarding lead who any family can contact in confidence. Their details appear on the safeguarding page.
How do I raise a concern?
Use the confidential form on the safeguarding page, which goes straight to the safeguarding lead. Every report is taken seriously and handled with care. If a child is in immediate danger, call 911.
